About Doncaster Knights

About Doncaster Knights

We are Doncaster Knights, the professional rugby union club of Doncaster. We compete in Champ Rugby, the second tier of the English game, and play our home matches at Castle Park. We have deep roots in the city, a reputation as the most promoted side in English rugby, and a simple belief that rugby should be open to everyone.

Who We Are

Doncaster Rugby Football Club was founded in 1875. We became Doncaster Knights in 2006, taking our name from Castle Park, our home. That rebrand marked more than a change of badge. Years of promotion after promotion had taken us from amateur rugby into the professional game and reshaped both the team and the ground around it. Eight promotions in fifteen seasons of league rugby remain a unique record in English rugby, and that climb is still part of who we are.

We have come close to the Premiership, including a Championship play-off final in 2015/16 and a semi-final two seasons later. Our ambition hasn't changed. We are going to compete at the highest level we can, while staying a club that belongs to the people of Doncaster.

Castle Park

Castle Park is our home. It is a 22-acre site a few miles from Doncaster town centre, owned by the club and built to serve both matchdays and the rest of the week.

The ground has grown with the team. The De Mulder-Lloyd Stand, hospitality suites and conference rooms have turned Castle Park into one of the strongest rugby venues in the Championship, and one of Doncaster's leading places to host an event.

Castle Park Conference and Function Centre sits at the heart of that. It is a multi-million-pound facility used for conferences, hospitality, weddings and private functions, while the site remains a working rugby ground for the whole club.

Rugby for all

Professional rugby is only one part of life at Castle Park. On the same ground, you will find:

That pathway matters as much as first-team results. Castle Park is where children start the game, where community sides play every weekend, and where the Knights take the field on matchday. One ground. One club. Rugby at every level.
